The blue row and column mark the middle. Dark grid lines are every 5 blocks.

Count from the left edge of the plan. The bottom half mirrors the top, so only the top half is listed.

How to build a circle in Minecraft
- Choose the diameter. An odd number such as 21 gives a single middle block, which is easier to line up with a tower or a beacon; an even number gives a middle of two blocks.
- Mark the middle row and column in the world (the blue lines in the plan), so you know where the circle's centre is.
- Build the first row from the list above, counting blocks from the left edge, then work row by row. The second half of the circle is the same as the first, in reverse.
- Use a thin wall for a neat look, a thick wall when every block must touch the next along a side (for water or a solid floor edge), or Filled for a floor, a dome layer or a pond.
Questions
What is the best size for a Minecraft circle?
Odd diameters such as 15, 21, 31 or 51 have one centre block, so they line up with a single block in the middle of a tower, fountain or beacon. Bigger circles look rounder: below about 9 blocks a circle starts to look like an octagon.
What is the difference between a thin and a thick wall?
In a thin wall the steps of the circle meet only at their corners, which uses fewer blocks and looks lighter. In a thick wall every block touches the next one along a full side, so water stays in and the outline looks bolder.
How many blocks do I need?
The count above the plan is the exact number of blocks for one layer, also shown in stacks of 64. Multiply it by the number of layers for a wall or tower.
Can I make an oval or ellipse?
Yes. Choose Oval / ellipse and set the width and height separately, up to 256 blocks each.
Can I build this with friends on my own server?
Yes. A private server lets your group build together around the clock. See our Minecraft server hosting plans, or work out the RAM you need with the RAM calculator.
